The Evolution Model ESB Pulling Tool is designed to engage and retrieve downhole tools with an external fishing neck. Downward jarring is utilized to release the tool to be pulled.
OperationThe tool is operated by locating the ESB over the external fishing neck of the tool to be pulled. The pulling tool dogs latch onto the fishing neck. Cam surfaces on the dogs force the lower end of the dogs to be pressed inward, thereby ensuring a strong latch. Should the pulling tool not be able to retrieve the downhole tool, it can be released from the fishing neck so it may be brought out of the hole. The shear pin can be sheared with repeated severe jarring. Once sheared, the cylinder spring forces the core to move up. This releases the pulling tool dogs. Once the lips of the pulling tool dogs release, the ESB can be removed from the hole and the shear pin replaced.
